A fantastic listen and an awesome debut.

This album is a summation of thoughts and feelings that I've been accumulating over the last decade or so. In those years I've had a gradual transformative experience, with many extreme highs and lows - and in that time I've come to realise all my beliefs about the world, the rise of technology, and the way we as a race are connected and even synchronised, intangibly and permanently to each other, via the various mediums of televisual media and online communication. It is so vitally important to be able to physically and mentally detach yourself from the information age when necessary, or risk being completely overwhelmed. We live in a world full of endless opportunity and unspeakable horror in equal measure, and whilst we shouldn't be so quick to sweepingly decry the leaps and bounds we've made in the fields of industry and technology, we also must learn to not rely on it completely, that being helplessly in sync with each other is something that evolutionarily we are simply not equipped for at present.

Now, I don't believe I'm saying or doing anything crazily new or fiendishly clever with the compositions or lyrics herein, but they are a wild step outside of my usual comfort zone - in addition to not releasing any non-General MIDI music since 2017, I also haven't sung on a released song of mine in quite a number of years, and the last album project of recorded music that I worked on was the Rainbow Season EP in 2011-12. Many of these lyrics were in fact originally written, some in full, around the early 10s as well.

Let's just say I had some things on my mind that I felt needed out of my system.

"Desync" as an album deals with a variety of themes, all of which are loosely connected to the introspection I've done over the recent course of my life, and they include but are not limited to: the need to "belong" to a place or person; the totalitarian level of power held unfairly by incapable autocrats; the influence that media and even individuals can have over impressionable minds; and of course, the subject of romance and personal/interpersonal fulfillment - whether long-lasting, or cut gravely short in the grand scheme.

At the very least I want to make people think a little bit more deeply about how they are spending their mental energy in this day and age, and how we should just allow ourselves to exist without being inextricably connected to something truly outside of our control or comprehension.

Absolutely sublime, an essential to any MIDI enthusiast. Vanilla compatible as well. Of course if you don't know, you should play BTSX using a source port of your choice: You can use ZDL to load up source ports and cleanly select multiple pk3s and WADs to run. The interface of ZDL is a bit clunky but, to play BTSX all you would really need to do is drag and drop the WAD to a sourceport exe to launch it. I recommend GZDoom for utility, Woof for authenticity, and DSDA if you're speedy boi. BrickDickRick
