So blindly I've spent a lifetime with my head beneath the sand (It's hardly fun) But finally, I've come up for air Now all I need is someone's hand (A guardian) Help me be a free creator Of more than just my work (I will not be) I will not be some spectator While the world around me turns Lift this embryonic fate I've sealed Take away this chronic pain I feel The rest of my life might begin with you You might be my turning point, my moment of truth Like Sisyphus A boulder pressing on my shoulders - lift it off (This hefty weight) A chrysalis A prison keeping me suspicious - break me out (Can hardly wait) Help me be the sole dictator Of my own destiny (I will not be) I will not be some spectator While the world just spins around me Lift this cold cryonic state I'm in Drain the toxic waste I'm swimming in The rest of my life might begin with you You might be my turning point, my moment of truth I won't stagnate I'll design my only fate The world is mine to see The scent of new is calling me Help me be the sole proprietor Of this human form (Won't you help me) Help me be a noble fighter But keep me safe from harm Lift this embryonic fate I've sealed Take away this chronic pain I feel And I swear that I won't depend on you You might be my turning point, my moment of truth Yeah, you might be my turning point, my moment of truth

about

"Moment of Truth"

Both the yearning for a sense of self-reliance and independence, and wishing to belong unconditionally in the loving arms of another human being can create a troubling dichotomy.

This song issues a set of propositions to another party expressing deep vulnerability - a desire to break out into the wider world, to end the prevailing sense of self-isolation that has been experienced up to this point, and to replace it with adventure and bravery; that dependency (or worse, codependency) is consciously something that will, and must, be avoided; that bliss could be a hairsbreadth away and that, at long last, the mental fortitude has been summoned to make these dreams a reality.

The song also seeks to acknowledge that the balance to strike with propositions like these is distressingly fine. It will take effort to reach this apex, but it must be reached by any means.
